TitlePage provides additional functionality to bring a Publisher’s entire dataset up to date in one file load using either a Complete Reload or Record Reset. This functionality is compatible with both ONIX 3.1 and ONIX 2.1
Complete Reload
A Complete Reload is a simplest way to ensure that all of the titles listed on TitlePage are correct, and that no old inactive titles have been left in the database by error.
When a Complete Reload file is received, TitlePage:
- compares all the ISBNs in the file with those currently stored in the TitlePage database for that publisher (based on Publisher ID).
- checks each record in the database for changes, and updates accordingly;
- creates new records for additional titles not already in the TitlePage system;
- deletes any record in the TitlePage system that is not included within the Complete Reload file.
To perform such a Complete Reload, you simply need to add <MessageNote>Complete Reload</MessageNote> to the <Header> element of the ONIX file.
Record Reset
A Record Reset is primarily designed for users of a block update split workflow (ie, publisher & distributor) who are unable to provide a single source of the full record. However it is also a significantly faster workflow, if needed for that reason.
When a Record Reset file is received, TitlePage:
- Compares ISBNs in file with TitlePage database
- Deletes records not included in Record Reset file
- Compatible with partial updates (blocks 1-5 or block 6)
To perform such a Record Reset, you simply need to add <MessageNote>Record Reset</MessageNote> to the <Header> element of the ONIX file.
